چکیده

4. Spatial Point Processes with Dependent Marks for Fingerprint Minutiae. Let xn ≡ { xi, i = 1, 2, · · · , n } denote the collection of n minutiae locations, and for each x ∈ xn, the minutiae orientation wx denotes the corresponding mark, which takes values in (0, π]. The distribution of minutiae in a fingerprint image is best described in terms of a hierarchical model involving all random entities. Let P(λ, h) be a marked Poisson process with λ and h, respectively, denoting the intensity measure and joint density function of marks. The hierarchical model for (xn,wxn) is given by (θ,mθ) ≡ Φ ∼ P(λ1, h1), (1) (x,w (k) x(k) ) |Φ ind ∼ P(λ2k, gk), for k = 1, 2, · · · ,K, and (2)

Assessing Fingerprint Individuality Using EPIC: A Case Study in the Analysis of Spatially Dependent Marked Processes

Fingerprint individuality refers to the extent of uniqueness of fingerprints and is governed by the distribution of fingerprint features, termed minutiae, in a population. This paper develops a flexible class of marked point processes for minutiae and associated methodology for assessing fingerprint individuality. Inference is carried out in a Bayesian MCMC framework. The flexibility of the mod...

Probability of Random Correspondence for Fingerprints

Individuality of fingerprints can be quantified by computing the probabilistic metrics for measuring the degree of fingerprint individuality. In this paper, we present a novel individuality evaluation approach to estimate the probability of random correspondence (PRC). Three generative models are developed respectively to represent the distribution of fingerprint features: ridge flow, minutiae ...

Individuality of Fingerprints: Comparison of Models and Measurements

Over a hundred years, several attempts have been made to quantitatively establish the degree of individuality of fingerprints. Measurements have been made using models based on grids, ridges, fixed probabilities, relative measurements and generative distributions. This paper is a survey and assessment of various fingerprint individuality models proposed to-date. Models starting from that of Gal...

Beyond Minutiae: A Fingerprint Individuality Model with Pattern, Ridge and Pore Features

Fingerprints are considered to be unique because they contain various distinctive features, including minutiae, ridges, pores, etc. Some attempts have been made to model the minutiae in order to get a quantitative measure for uniqueness or individuality of fingerprints. However, these models do not fully exploit information contained in nonminutiae features that is utilized for matching fingerp...

On the Individuality of Fingerprints

ÐFingerprint identification is based on two basic premises: 1) persistence: the basic characteristics of fingerprints do not change with time and 2) individuality: the fingerprint is unique to an individual. The validity of the first premise has been established by the anatomy and morphogenesis of friction ridge skin. While the second premise has been generally accepted to be true based on empi...
